Boii Atectoi (Boii Levy Spearmen) These levies are recruited from the poorest freemen for use in emergency situations. They are poorly equipped with a spear, no armor, and relatively small shields. They have no, or hardly any, training.

Boii Bagaudoi (Boii Light Spearmen) These spearmen are recruited from the wealthier members of the freemen class. They are equipped with a spear, a javelin, some armor, and good shields. They have some training and some even have previous battle experience.

Boii Bogiocingetoi (Boii Axemen) These axemen are recruited from the warrior class. They are equipped with sharp axes, javelins, excellent armor, and good shields. Their primary task is to break the enemy line through a ferocious charge or conduct a quick flank attack. These are the best axemen available to any Celtic warlord and an enemy would be wise to fear them.

Boii Batoroi (Boii Assault Infantry) These freemen are powerfully built and courageous. They use a wooden club or a mace with a heavy metal or bone head and carry a good shield. Some have light armor and helmets. In battle, they serve as a front-line assault troops.

Boii Cingetoi (Boii Shieldwall Spearmen) These professional spearmen are the backbone of the Boii infantry line, recruited from the warrior class. They are well-equipped with a three-meter long spear, a longsword as a melee weapon, a helmet and some body armor, and good shields. They can form a strong Shield Wall formation.

Boii Excingetoi (Early) (Early Boii Medium Swordsmen) These swordsmen are recruited from those warriors who are wealthy enough to afford good equipment. In battle, they throw a volley of javelins, then close in with versatile swords, which are equally capable as cutting or thrusting weapons. These warriors almost always have a helmet, some body armor, and a stout shield.

Boii Kludda Lugiae (Celtic Swordmasters) These nobles are armed with exceptionally fine two-handed swords, which are a testament to the skill of ancient Celtic craftsmen. They are not particularly common, but examples have been found in what is now Bohemia. These wonderful weapons require plenty of mobility and space to use, meaning the swordmasters employ a relatively loose formation.

Boii Cavaros (Boii Heroic Swordsmen) These warriors gravitate to the drinking halls and feasts of the most powerful chieftains and are inspired by their tribe’s myths and legends. They are armed with the highest quality swords available. They also a carry a shield and many wear a tall and recognisable Montefortino helmet.

Boii Drutonedammoi (Boii Noble Swordsmen) The Drutonedammoi are noblemen of steel vows, steel swords, and steel hearts. Each man has a different tale of how he came to serve his master, and some motivations may not be as pure as others, but when the carnyx is sounded and battle is joined, none doubt their courage and loyalty.

Boii Argoi (Boii Noble Spearmen) These noble spearmen are the best equipped and most skilled infantry available to the Boii. They employ three-meter long spears, longswords, highly decorated helmets, and excellent mail armor. In emergency situations, they will form a strong defensive formation and each man will do his utmost to defend his comrades and his leader.

Boii Talmoroi (Boii Slingers) Slingers are some of the most common missile infantry, since they are cheap to equip and easy to recruit from shepherds and other freemen. Unlike many slingers, Boii slingers do not carry shields.

Boii Saitoroi (Boii Archers) A rough life in the Alpine forest gives these freemen sufficient skills to be lethal against any foe and they are naturally born ambushers. Although they are among the best archers in the Celtic world, they should not be used alone, as they can barely sustain any close combat.

Boii Acuadrettoi (Boii Skirmishers) These freemen are equipped with several javelins, an iron-tipped gaesos spear, and a good shield. They act mainly as skirmishers, but can hold their own in close combat if required to do so.

Boii Runocingetoi (Boii Night Warriors) These warriors are skilled in night raids and ambushes. Although their primary weapon is an excellent bow, they are also armed with axes and swords for close combat. They paint their bodies black to enhance their terrifying and animalistic appearance, which can unnerve most enemy troops.

Boii Eporedoi (Boii Light Cavalry) These warriors are wealthy enough to serve as horsemen instead of foot soldiers. They are versatile cavalry, using gaesos for throwing and thrusting, and carrying a long sword for close combat.

Boii Rigeporedoi (Early) (Early Boii Noble Cavalry) These noble cavalry fight with a long spear and a longsword. They wear good armor and carry a cavalry shield.

Boii Excingetoi (Late) (Late Boii Heavy Swordsmen) These swordsmen are recruited from the warrior class. Only a powerful leader with vast resources can enlist and train these professional soldiers. Although some undoubtedly bring their own equipment, the majority are equipped by their leader with good swords, excellent mail armor, sturdy helmets, and good shields. They are trained to throw powerful javelins as they charge into the enemy ranks.

Boii Rigeporedoi (Late) (Late Boii Noble Cavalry) These late noble cavalry still fight with a long spear and a longsword. While most are now equipped with excellent mail and an iron helmet, some still use bronze armor, greaves, and Etruscan-style helmets (probably trophies from raids and battles in the rich lands of Etruria).
