Slingers come from the shepherd boys of the highlands who use slings to herd sheep and goats. They stand guard in the upland pastures, and if they see an animal straying, they sling a stone in front of it to ward it back to safety. |

Gund i Sugdianavanig (Parthian Heavy Infantry) In general, historians consider Parthian infantry as anecdotal: They usually rely on local foot auxiliaries for land battles. But in time, their all-mounted tactics have become unsuccessful by nature in sieges of all sorts. Being very heavy, these troops are not useful for prolonged running on the battlefield, but for assaulting walls with bravery, skill, and great efficiency. |
