Suladhara Yodha (Mauryan Armoured Spearmen) These men are part of the maula which are the permanent forces of the Mauryan army and have been trained for years to fight in various conditions. They are equipped with relatively long sturdy spears with metal tips on both ends and have lamellar or scale armour with a reinforced shield for protection.

Sahayaka Sainka (Mauryan Reserve Infantry) Unlike other soldiers, these men are poorly equipped and wouldn’t see combat very often. They could be stationed behind the mainline with the non-combatants, encourage the routers to rejoin the battle or just fill in the gaps. Some can recieve equipment from the leftovers but most bring their own.

Kadhgadhara Samvita Yodha (Mauryan Elite Warriors) Hereditary warriors from the Kshatriya caste who have been serving the empire for generations. These warriors are armed with broadswords and are good assault infantry. They also carry tridents which they throw before the engagement starts.

Sammitrita Ksatrya (Mauryan Allied Swordsmen) Troops from central India sent by allied kingdoms. These swordsmen are fearsome warriors, wielding the Aruvaazh (or Sickle-Sword) while a few others bring a battle axe. They have a reputation for being spiritual and fanatical and are considered very warlike in nature.

In addition to traditional turbans, some warriors wear helmets.

Kamboja Ashvakas (Kambojan Horsemen) Kambojas generally practiced agriculture, cattle-rearing, and trade but they are trained horsemen. In times of war, they are ready to take up arms and join the imperial army. They fight as light cavalry, harrying with a few javelins before charging in with their broad-bladed spear. Their panoply and weaponry have distinct Iranian and Hellenic influences.

They are the most powerful cavalry fielded by the Mauryan army.
